The 3 Es

From last few days, every day when I pick up ET, I get to read all good things. The zooming SENSEX, high GDP growth, huge FII inflows, big M&A’s, and add the latest impressive increase in Exports despite strong Rupee. I wonder how liberalization has changed all, and from a third world country we are on a way to become a superpower. Then, just looking out of my window I see a few kutcha huts. May be some daily laboururs stay there. Small kids playing with whatever they get hands on and this looks no different than may be some 10 years ago. I “hope” the growth is benefiting them. If it does not, it is a big problem. Not only social also economical. A social imbalance will definitely put brakes on the growth. How can we ensure that they also have a pie in the growth cake? For sure, taking a communist approach will be a big mistake. We cannot keep subsidizing everything. There has to be a way in the “free hand” policy to allow a wholesome growth. My belief is that it can be achieved using the 3Es given below.

1. Educate. This is the basic ingredient which needs to provided if we want to see any change at BOP. This is a very logical parameter. Without education, a person can never exploit any opportunity, even if it given to him. I don’t say that people should be graduates, and you may start arguing that many businessmen were never very good at academics. I want education to be a tool to remove ignorance. Education should be the enabler to make people come out of this darkness. At least people should be able to think correctly. Without a proper education a person is blind even to see the growth itself, forget anything else.

2. Empower. This parameter makes sure that no one is handicap. After showing the light by removing the darkness of ignorance and hence enabling them to see, we need to provide them tools to use their vision, empower them to believe in themselves and allow them to explore the growth. Without Empowerment a person is handicapped who only looks at the growth but cannot do anything about it.

3. Encourage Entrepreneurship. This is the next logical parameter we need to add. Let people be free. Allow them to chose their ways. Tell people that they can create and build. Big and small does not matter. Encourage the spirits of Entrepreneurship. This will naturally lead to innovative ideas booming. Competition will driver innovation, which will drive efficiency, and this will make each one give and get its best. And when each one gives and gets its best in a country, you can only think and feel it. At least I can write it. Without this ingredient, we will not be utilizing full potential of many capable Entrepreneurs.

We may have huge FIIs to increase our GDP and big MNCs paying us big amounts. But until and unless we look at the larger section of the country, enable them to see, empower them to use their vision and encourage them to use their full potential, whatever way they want, I believe we are in danger of social imbalance which leads to economic imbalance, ultimately hitting back TOP (Top of the Pyramid).

Take an example. Big software giant invests big amount here. If people know this, know what they need and are encouraged to use this opportunity the way they like we may see a new catering service, a small supplier of tissue papers, a new opportunity for a stationery supply rising. If we do not Encourage Entrepreneurship, we will have only new “wage earners” and no new competition. If we have not Empowered, people may be reluctant even to join a big MNC (at clerical levels), or even take any kind advantage out of it. And without education there lies no point of any discussion.

This looks common sense to me. The 3Es comes just because I am perusing my Management Studies ;-).

GURU: A Villager, A Visionary, A Winner.

Brilliant Direction. Awesome Performance. Excellent Music.
Mani Ratnam has given yet another masterpiece. Guru tells, how a person like you and me follows his dreams. How he falls, fights and wins. And falls, fights and wins. Story of a dream, a passion an achiever.
Performances are awesome. Specially, from Abhishekh Bachhan, who plays the lead role of Guru Kant Desai. This man had a passion for his dreams. Confidence of achieving them and intellect to execute plans. In the process of achieving his goals, he had to use unfair means. He moved against the bans on production limits, imports, and licenses. This was imperative for growth. He had only one aim, and denied any rule that stopped progress. He linked progress of society in his own progress.
When His mentor, played by Mithaun Chakraborty(who runs a press), came to know that he has broken some laws of land, went against him and asked Madhvan, a young reporter to fight against him. Both of them have given excellent performances. Madhvan succeeds in un-covering Guru, which lead him to a big fall to Guru. Madhvan’s confrontations with Abhishekh Bachhan are excellent performances.
Aishwarya Rai, Guru’s Better half plays a strong Indian women, and supports him at every point in his lifetime.
Climax is very nicely executed. The best part is that after seeing the movie you get the passion, the emotions to achieve your dreams. It has the magic to touch you and motivate you for your goals.
Guru Rocks…

Ideas

From where does one get an Idea to start? Is it accidental? Does one thinks over to find it? Are there multiple sources? At least for me YES
I find my ideas from nature! It shows many unimplemented aspects that can be covered up by writing an application. These look best of all ideas. :-)Also they come by Accident! Many a time a feel some systems are worthless, which invokes the idea for a better implementation. (Is this really accident)?Sometimes I do think about finding one, this is most unsuccessful for me :-(.We get many Ideas and more Ideas start getting building over them. For E.g., you think of an online game, then add a database of top scorers, then you add some thing else and your imagination starts widening, but all pointing towards the great idea you have just got.We become enthusiastic about implementing it. Then comes the real test. How confident are you of your idea, that you invest money and time in it. We then try to be sure that there are no flaws on what you are thinking about.I think many a times, Evan after thinking of good ideas we (at least myself) do not go ahead to implement them. What is the reason, I am still trying to figure out. Is it lack of confidence (in idea / in self)?I think that implementing an Idea is as important as thinking/finding it. What is the use of your innovative idea if it is not implemented? Nothing right? Also for myself, I find implementing the idea I get more challenging than getting it (they come automatically, most of the time… remember).I am waiting for the Idea (if ever it comes to me, or I find it out), which gives me enough confidence to implement it leaving all worries behind.Hope I get it soon.

How to start a business?

In my view there are a few points to be kept in mind.

1. You need to concentrate on a particular domain of customer. The reason is that when you go and offer someone a product, you will be tested on your experience, and more importantly experience in the domain.Let us see how domain experience helps. First, customer believes that you know his business logic clearly. Next, more you have worked on a domain, more easily you understand customers requirement, give him better options and deliver a better product to his business, happier the customer becomes. This gives you re-business easily, compared to case where you trouble the customer explain you his requirements again and again, you get them wrong, you do a rework and customer has an impression that you did not understand his business. Also, here you can not give customer a value add, customer will not accept your views readily, evan if they improve his business, once he gets a negative impression of your domain knowledge. So, domain knowledge is very important to get happy customers, and quality software with cost and time reduction. The best way to get is not reading a book on it but actually trying to implement it and getting continuous feedbacks from experts.

2. Choosing initial domain for work.It is very important that you choose the right domain and right customer initially. You should have a fair idea of his business and also such people should be available in a good number.Let us understand why and what are its advantages. As understood earlier better the domain knowledge, better the business. To sustain for a longer time we need to have a big potential customer base, bigger the potential customer base, richer you are after your product is having a good initial response. It is advantageous if you have or develop a personal contact with such people. Say, for a shop management software, it is good to have a number of shopkeepers as your close relatives, they give you a correct feedback of your product, best ways to improve it, and spread your good faith in your market, you get customers easily, what else you want? Also you can work with them closely to understand there business needs better.

3. Accepting your mistakes and more importantly learning from them. This is something everyone knows, but it is really very important to learn from your mistakes and make it a point you never do it again. Believe me; if you do the same mistake twice (you should be ready to accept initially you are bound to make mistakes... it is a human nature and quite difficult to escape from it.) that is the biggest misfortune for you. Rectifying second time done mistake from customer's mind is one of the most difficult task you will face. These points are quite obvious but putting a tough on these and doing a R&D further on these give you good ideas.

Climbed the hill

Climbed the hill.
Crossed those small shurbs.
Crossed the snakes, and the scorpio.
On the top now.
Looking forwad.
I see the mountains.
The white snow is calling.
The rising Sun makes the snow more beutifull.
That is the dream, dream to be the with the snow, on the top.
Cross that deep river, swim accross it.
Get through that dark forest.
Climb on that steep rock.
Enjoy that chilling Weather.
Face thouse hungry and thirsty days.
Do these on the fire.
Fire of passion.
Passion to perform.
Passion to win.
Have that gun with me.
Gun of dedication.
With bullets of sheer hard work.
If the fire is within and I have the gun Loaded.
Then on the top.
Then see the sky.
What is estinguishing the fire.
The hieght it seems.
The pleasure at this smll hieght it seems.
Hunger is a must to go ahead.
That creates a fire.
And the gun?
This is something I need to build.
Then on the top.
And See the Sky.
Jump for it till I fall back on the ground.
Again start it all again.
In hope, one day i will beat the gravity.
I will fly over it.
And the space will be mine. To explore.
Keep exploring the ever expanding.
And never comes the end.
Die on aspirations to do it again.
And do it again, right from the scratch.

The Horizon

By the sea, a sea full of opportunities calling you to dive in and get the pearls out of it.
Looking at the horizon, looking at those dreams, the seem so far, but you see those and see them continually.
Aspire to swim through the see face all that comes and get there to see a new horizon.
See the rising Sun. Full of hopes full of Energy.
Makes you forget the last day worries and exaggerates the last day’s sweet memories.
Fills us with enthusiasm, spirit, confidence and passion for the new day and the dream.
Here the birds. They encourage you, go for it.
There is the opportunity, there are your dreams and there is all what you need to get to it.
Then, why can’t I move on? Why am I pulled back on the same old land and the Sun sets and no longer I see the horizon.
Sleep with a promise to not to make the mistake again. But, what is there which pulls back.
Is it the fear to get drowned? I will be a better swimmer then.
Is it the fear that horizon is not real. I need to believe in myself.
Or is it the fear that Sun may set before I reach. I need to have this confidence and take this risk to reach the horizon.
